Select Learning's online companion courses provide wonderful input and support. In this course, completed in 2008, the lectures are done by Ralph W. Klein, Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago and Katheryn Schifferdecker, Luther Seminary. The course facilitator will be Dr Michael Chan. Michael Chan is Associate Professor of Old Testament at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. He is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University (B.A.), Luther Seminary (M.A. in Old Testament), and Emory University (Ph.D.). Chan has written many articles and books including Exploring the Bible (with Eric Barreto). In addition to being a sought-after speaker and author, he also hosts the Gospel Beautiful podcast, which interviews guests about the challenging task of preaching the Gospel in the 21st century.
The course will introduce students to key themes and issues in the study of the Old Testament. The students will learn basic skills to equip them to be competent and creative interpreters of Old Testament texts.
Access to the class website and orientation details will be available a few days before the orientation week begins. The course work will include readings, DVD lectures, online essays, and online responses to classmates.
